About

Portrait of Mary Bridget Hart

Mary Bridget Hart retired from her practice as a physician in October 2024 and began to build her dream, feeding her passion- teaching yoga and strength and conditioning.

She has practiced yoga for 30+ years, initially studying with one of the senior Iyengar teachers in the US, John Schumacher.

She now offers private sessions in Yoga, Strength and Conditioning, and Core.

Especially welcomed are yoga beginners, those who are reluctant to enter a crowded studio, and individuals who “used to” have a fitness routine but feel unable or unmotivated to start again.

How It All Started

During the covid lockdown, she offered free classes daily with a mixture of Yoga, Core and strength training, and offered guided meditations to provide some respite from the in-hospital work during the epidemic. As an adjunct medical school professor, her medical students, residents and fellows in training also participated. This experience, and the gratitude of her students, cemented her desire to teach after retirement.

Yoga Expertise

Over the years, she has practiced Hatha, Vinyasa, Hot yoga, Ashtanga, Yin and Restorative, concentrating on Iyengar, Hatha, Vinyasa, and often “blending” the different forms.

She completed her 500-hour Yoga teacher training in 2021, with the Yoga and Ayurvedic Center, where she earned her Yoga Alliance Certification (RYT 500).  Since that time, she has completed additional Yoga Alliance accredited yoga teacher training and immersion, with certification in Yin Yoga (studying with Paul Teodo), Restorative Yoga, Chair Yoga and Pranayama. She has had a personal meditation practice for many years.

Before Yoga

Mary has always been active in sports and fitness. An avid downhill skier, she raced in college. Through her adult life, she has run several marathons (Including the Boston Marathon), played singles tennis with the USTA, trained in distance swimming, taken many years of Pilates and participated in strength and resistance training since 2000.

She earned her Certification as a Personal Trainer from the North American Sports Medicine program (NASM) in 2021.
